Athletic Department releases 2012, 2013 football schedules

BY STEPHEN J. NESBITT

The Central Michigan football program announced Tuesday that the Chippewas will face Michigan in the 2013 season opener on Aug. 31, 2013.

"This is a great opportunity to compete with the University of Michigan again," Central Michigan Athletic Director Dave Heeke said in a released statement. "There are many benefits to playing on a national stage, and when we can do that with the partners in our own state, we give our alumni, fans and student-athletes something very special to look forward to."

The Michigan Athletic Department confirmed the matchup and released a finalized schedule for the next two seasons.

The Wolverines open next season in Arlington, Texas at Cowboy Stadium for the season opener against Alabama. Michigan will play six home games in 2012 and seven home games during the 2013 season. In 2013, Michigan will have two bye weeks.

While this 2011 season has begun with five consecutive home games, next season will begin at a neutral site and 2013 features just three home games to begin the non-conference slate.
