I was really hoping this show wasn’t going to be “NCIS” with superheroes. Not that there’s anything wrong with “NCIS,” but for the talent involved here, we really deserve more than the McGuffin of the weeks we’ve been getting.

We’re three episodes in, and absolutely nothing has happened — the only exception being some growth this week between Skye (Chloe Bennet) and Agent Ward (Brett Dalton), whose chemistry and solid performances finally gives us a reason to like these characters beyond mere quirky dialogue. That being said, Skye is far, far removed from the pantheon of famed Whedon women.
The past three weeks I’ve been tuning in hoping this show will somehow rise above its trappings in the same way the films have. Instead, the third installment just continued to hobble along with a few promising moments scattered throughout an otherwise dull episode of television.
