Despite starting five games this season, Miller struggled to start, hitting a batter and giving up three runs to the Mastodons, two of which were home runs, just in the top of the second inning. Going into the third inning, the Wolverines were down 3-2, giving the spectators a slight scare that a sweep of might not be in store for Michigan.
Junior pitcher Tyler Burgoon came in to relieve Miller in the fourth and threw a clean game for the remainder of play. The Wolverines stepped it up at the plate, slowly gaining a few runs each inning.
Michigan started the eighth inning with a 7-3 lead, but went out with a bang — bringing in 5 runs. Senior catcher Chris Berset started it off by bringing brought in freshman shortstop Derek Dennis as a runner with a single up the middle. Sophomore designated hitter Coley Crank, senior first basemen Mike Dufek and redshirt freshman outfielder Tyler Mills followed suit, all bringing in runners.
