Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Diane Brown has confirmed to The Michigan Daily that the evacuation of West Quad earlier tonight was not the result of a fire.

Though Brown said many details remain to be sorted out, she could confirm there was no smoke or fire in West Quad. Instead, Brown said water was coming out of a sprinkler head at some point in the building.

Authorities are still on the scene. Some residents have been allowed back into the building, but those living in affected rooms are still not being allowed back inside them.
