The three-day, 54-hole event in Columbus featured 16 ranked teams, and all 16 of which finished ahead of the Wolverines. No. 2 UCLA won the event, finishing 83 strokes ahead of the Wolverines, who did not finish higher than 16th place in any of the rounds.
Michigan missed out on its opportunity to reach the NCAA Finals for the first time since 2002. The eight teams with the lowest three-round scores reach the finals, and the Wolverines finished 38 shots behind Tennessee-Chattanooga for eighth.
Junior Ashley Bauer led Michigan, finishing tied for 46th, after starting the tournament on a high note with a two-over, 74. The other four Wolverines competing in the event weren’t able to push their team to what would be their second-ever finals appearance, as none of them finished in the top-60.
Although Michigan won the Red Rocks Invitational in February and reached the Central Regional, it struggled throughout the spring season. Other than that first-place finish, Michigan placed better than seventh just twice during the spring season. The win at Red Rocks was its only top three-finish of the season, which included a last-place finish at the Central District Classic and a seventh-place finish at the Big Ten Championships two weeks ago.
