The Michigan women’s basketball team got off to a hot start against Wisconsin and never looked back in the Wolverines' 75-59 victory at Crisler Arena on Sunday.

The Wolverines (3-2 Big Ten, 10-7 overall) led by as many as 15 points in the first half, paced by 10 points apiece by senior guard Veronica Hicks and junior guard Carmen Reynolds.

The Badgers (4-2, 9-9) were held to just 22 points in the first frame, as Michigan went into the break with a 13-point advantage.

The Wolverines started right where they left off in the second half, starting the frame with a 14-6 run to increase the lead to 19. Wisconsin went on a run of its own late in the half, cutting the Michigan lead to just seven with five minutes to play.

But that was the closest that the Badgers would get, as the Wolverines played smart basketball down the stretch and went 8-for-8 from the charity stripe to seal the victory.

Hicks led Michigan with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor Wurtz led Wisconsin with 14 points on 4-for-7 three-point shooting.
