The Michigan men’s golf team is one of eight teams remaining in the NCAA Finals after finishing sixth out of 30 teams in the stroke play section of the NCAA Finals. If the Wolverines can win the match play playoff against No. 3 USC on Friday, they will be one of the final four teams left for a championship bid.

The eight teams with the lowest 54-hole scores at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio, advanced to the two–day match play playoff, which will determine the national champion. No. 39 Michigan is the only team not ranked in the top 15 to reach the match play playoff portion of the tournament.

No. 2 Oklahoma State is the weekend's No. 1 seed after finishing 19 strokes ahead of the Wolverines.

Sophomores Alexander Sitompul and Lion Kim led Michigan to what will be the team’s best Finals finish since 1952. Sitompul finished sixth in stroke play, highlighted by a second round two-under par, 69, while Kim finished in a tie for 13th.

Michigan has found success in the match play format earlier this season. It played in the first-ever Big Ten Match Play Championship in February and finished second.
