Greg Robinson named Michigan's new defensive coordinator

After weeks of searching, Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez has found a new defensive coordinator — former Syracuse head coach Greg Robinson.

Robinson replaces Scott Shafer, who was one of the only additions to the Michigan coaching staff that did not have any ties to Rodriguez or Michigan football before being hired.

As a head coach, Robinson did not fare well with the Orange, posting a 10-37 record in four seasons and never placing higher than seventh in the final standings of the eight-team Big East.

Prior to that, Robinson spent time as a co-defensive coordinator at Texas, a defensive line coach at UCLA and a defensive coordinator with the National Football League's Denver Broncos, New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs.

Check back later with the Daily for updates and commentary about Rodriguez's new hire.
